Need computer help, call these guys...

Starting the week of March 30th, we will have the largest group ever to finish the sessions of computer classes that we offer at the library. We have had an amazing turnout. The purpose of these classes is to familiarize beginner users with some basic programs and functions of the computer. We had a great group this time around!

For you graduates, your homework during the last class is to post the most important thing you learned and any other comments or concerns. You don't need to include your name.

Columbia Falls Library Association Gardening Workshop

The Columbia Falls Library Association hosted a Gardening Workshop last night to an audience of 45 people at the Columbia Falls Branch Library. Local gardeners presented on worm composting, growing heirloom corn, soil amendments and growing herbs. Participants had lots of questions about the red wiggler worms and home ground cornmeal that were passed around.

It was great to see beginning gardeners come together with experts to get some tips on how to grow food on their own.

Celebrating Dr. Seuss!

There was quite a party going on at the Main Library in Kalispell as The Cat in the Hat joined us on Saturday to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Many thanks to everyone who came to join us as we ate birthday cake, played some games and heard the Cat in the Hat himself read a very famous story. Thing One and Thing Two didn't make it this year but we heard that maybe they will be able to celebrate with us next year! We did see Fox in Socks hanging around...you never know who will be at the library, especially when we are having a party. Anime and Manga Club: Fruits Basket!

Anime and Manga Fans ages 12 and up are invited to come and watch Fruits Basket: A Great Transformation? on Monday, March 2 in the Main Library's basement meeting room. Free snacks!

Offline Technology Conference

Geeks from across Montana descended upon Anaconda and the Hearst Free Library this past weekend. Of course, I was not one of the geeks, but wanted to report that we have a wonderful connection between libraries and are constantly trying to provide the best digital services to our patrons, statewide. The Hearst Free Library was a gift from Mrs. Phoebe Hearst after she had sold her interest in the copper mining company based in Anaconda. While nobody has donated a building in Flathead County, each of us pays into the library via taxes and can take pride in the community that we support.

We also had the opportunity to tour the magnificent Washoe theater and its silver screen. If you ever make it to Anaconda, be sure to check it out.
